Janet Waldo
Janet Marie Waldo (some sources cite Jeanette Marie Waldo; born February 4, 1920),〔(1940 US census ); accessed September 19, 2014; some sources inaccurately cite 1918 or 1924, but the 1940 census gives her age as 20 years old in 1940.〕 is an American radio, television, animation and live-action film actress. She is best known in animation for voicing Judy Jetson, Nancy in ''Shazzan'', Penelope Pitstop, and Josie McCoy in ''Josie and the Pussycats'', and on radio for ''Meet Corliss Archer''. ==Early life== Waldo was born in Yakima, Washington. Her mother, Jane Althea Blodgett, was a singer trained at the Boston Conservatory of Music, and her father, Benjamin Franklin Waldo, was a descendant of Ralph Waldo Emerson. Her sister, Elisabeth Waldo (born June 18, 1918), is a leading authority on pre-Columbian music and an award-winning composer-violinist who appeared in the film ''Song of Mexico'' (1945).〔(Elisabeth Waldo profile ), elisabethwaldomusic.com; accessed September 12, 2014.〕 Janet attended the University of Washington, where her performance in a student theatrical garnered her an award and brought her to the attention of Bing Crosby.
